Testing the absolute mechanical limits of a custom LEGO engine is the ultimate DIY physics experiment every gearhead needs to see.

Powered by a high-output vacuum nozzle acting as a forced-induction intake, this miniature inline-four cylinder engine reaches absurdly high RPM levels on living room carpet.

At first, the plastic crankshaft and yellow pistons spin in perfect synchronization, creating a high-pitched buzzing sound like a track-tuned race motor.

However, pushing plastic mechanical components past their intended redline eventually leads to catastrophic engine failure as the crankshaft snaps clean off.

Undeterred by the blow-up, the builder immediately tears down the damaged block, replaces the broken internal parts, and snaps on a custom yellow valve cover for round two.

This endless cycle of pushing custom builds to the breaking point, experiencing engine failure, and performing a quick garage rebuild is what real mechanical passion is all about.
