A mystery Toyota test mule was spotted at Fuji Speedway. It appears to be a racing prototype of the long awaited MR2 or Celica. The car is equipped with Yaris lights to disguise its identity, however, we can make out a few key details about this upcoming car.
First, it is a low profile coupe. While it’s unclear whether it is a front engine or rear engine car, it does sound like it has the new G20E turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. The car is equipped with TE37 wheels, a full roll-cage, and an onboard hydraulic jack system, indicating that it might debut as a racing car first.
The roofline and some other details like its wing reminds of the early 2027 WRC1 test car that was spotted in Portugal, with the front and rear fenders widened even more. It would make sense if Toyota is graduating the GR Yaris, and replacing it with the Celica for racing and rallying applications.
