The Detroit Lions have built one of the NFL’s most productive backfields by pairing two completely different running styles. Since the start of the 2023 season, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery have combined for 54 rushing touchdowns—the most by any teammate duo in the league over that span. Behind one of football’s top offensive lines, Gibbs’ explosive playmaking and Montgomery’s physical, between-the-tackles running have consistently worn down defenses, giving Detroit one of the most balanced and efficient rushing attacks in the NFL.
Calling them the greatest running back duo of all time is still premature when compared to legendary tandems that sustained elite production for many years.
