Being a CASA is about the profound act of helping a child feel truly seen. When Mary entered foster care, she faced trauma, cultural isolation, and a language barrier that left her deeply guarded. CASA Natasha arrived not just as an advocate, but as a comforting, familiar presence. Raised in a bilingual, multicultural household, CASA Natasha grew up speaking Farsi. When they sat down for the first time, she looked directly at Mary and spoke a simple yet profound greeting:

“Salaam, esm-e man Natasha ast va motevajeh.” (Hello, my name is Natasha and I understand.) 

Those few words opened the door to a powerful connection. When an intimidating court date later triggered overwhelming anxiety for Mary, CASA Natasha stepped in as a steady anchor. She comforted Mary, coordinated with her attorney, and transformed a terrifying proceeding into a moment of safety and relief.
