If I had to learn AI from zero today, I wouldn’t spend six months watching tutorials.

I’d build.

And I’d learn in this order 👇

1. Python
Learn variables, functions, loops, APIs, and packages. You don’t need to master everything.

2. Git + GitHub
One of the most underrated skills in AI. Learn how to clone, fork, commit, and understand repositories.

3. Machine Learning Basics
Understand supervised learning, train/test splits, overfitting, classification, and regression.

Then immediately build and deploy a project.

4. Deep Learning + Hugging Face
Experiment with pretrained models, image models, and fine-tuning.

5. Understand LLMs
Learn transformers, attention, embeddings, context windows, tool calling, and structured outputs.

6. Build RAG
This forces you to understand chunking, vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval.

7. Build AI Agents
Once you understand everything before this, agents become much easier to grasp.

And the most important step?

Build in public.

Upload projects to GitHub.
Share what you’re learning on LinkedIn.
Document your mistakes.
Don’t wait until you feel “ready.”

The fastest learners aren’t the people consuming the most AI content.

They’re the people building the most things.
