🦁 Behind the scenes in the Wildlife Health & Science Centre 🦁 

Last week, 15-year-old female African lion Lemon underwent a comprehensive health examination, which also included a gastroscopy, and a dental cleaning. 

We're happy to share Lemon received an overall clean bill of health! Considering her advanced age, she'll continue to be monitored as part of her ongoing care, with a few nutrition adjustments being explored to help keep her smile healthy 🧡 

Did you know? Many medical procedures at your Toronto Zoo take place in the Wildlife Health & Science Centre (located behind the Greenhouse). There, Zoo members and guests can watch our veterinarians and staff in action through the public viewing gallery (free with Zoo admission). 

Built in 2017, this leading-edge facility is a hub of veterinary medicine, animal welfare, nutrition and reproductive sciences, conservation breeding and field conservation research. Purpose-built to meet the highest standards of care, it supports both the everyday and extraordinary health needs of the 3,000+ animals that call your Zoo home.
