🦟 State health officials said an Upstate resident tested positive for La Cross Encephalitis, which is known to be prevalent in the region.

LACE is usually spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. The virus can not be passed from person to person. The disease is predominantly reported in children under the age of 16.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said no medicines can treat the virus. Rest, fluids, and over-the-counter pain medications can help relieve some symptoms.
