Seneca city leaders are moving forward with a proposal that would allow voters to choose to add a one-percent local sales tax this November.

The Seneca City Council held a special meeting Tuesday to begin the process.

City leaders said they had to act before an August deadline to place the referendum on this year's ballot. Otherwise, they would have to wait until the 2028 general election.
