John is set to be playing Harry Belafonte in Bill Condon‘s upcoming film ‘The Road Home.’ The film is a music-driven drama surrounding the political firestorm that followed the creation of Paul Simon‘s Grammy-winning album, ‘Graceland.’ 

The EGOT-winner will be joining:
✨ Johnny Flynn as Paul Simon
✨ Cynthia Erivo as Miriam “Mama Africa” Makeba
✨ Thabo Rametsi as Hugh Masekela
✨ Guy Pearce as Trevor Huddleston

The story in the film will be told through the perspective of exiled South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela and will focus on the Anti-Apartheid Movement accusing Paul Simon of violating the United Nations’ cultural boycott of the country after he records his album with township musicians.
