Do you do JUMP GRIDS with your dogs?

Jump grids are about so much more than teaching a dog to jump. Done well, they contribute to confidence, body awareness, ability to quickly read distances between jumps, select the ideal take off spot, have efficient striding, and the kind of athleticism that transfers to every agility course.
The grid you’re seeing here is an advanced progression.

Prophet didn’t start here.

He’s been doing grids under the supervision of kimcollinspawsitivesteps since he was 3 months old. Incorporating things like when to add 2 strides vs one stride and even how to effectively add bounce strides into a grid.

Why a bounce stride?

Because bounce grids build strength. Not just the kind of strength that makes your dog jump higher or faster—but the kind that helps them recover when things don’t go according to plan.

Every agility dog will eventually experience a late handler cue, an awkward approach, or a misstep. Strong, well-conditioned dogs are far more capable of reorganizing their bodies in a split second, getting themselves out of trouble, and continuing safely.

That’s where a foundation of grid work SHINES!

That’s one of the greatest gifts we can give our dogs: not just teaching them how to perform when everything is perfect, but preparing them for the moments when it isn’t. Great agility dogs are built one thoughtful foundation layer at a time… it isn’t all about course running!
