And now, it’s a #ScoutingAmerica merit badge. 🔥
 
Today, we’re honored to officially launch the Wildland Fire Management Merit Badge. Developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of the Interior (usinterior), U.S. Forest Service (u.s.forestservice) and Society of American Foresters (americanforesters), the Wildland Fire Management Merit Badge introduces Scouts to:
 
🌲 Wildfire causes and behavior
🔥 The role of fire in healthy ecosystems
🛡️ Prevention, mitigation and emergency preparedness
🤝 Incident management and interagency coordination
🧭 Responsible outdoor practices
👷 Wildland firefighting, conservation and public-service careers
💻 Technologies used by professionals in the field
 
Scouts will learn how fire behaves, how it can support healthy ecosystems, how communities prepare for wildfires and how professionals coordinate to protect people, property and public lands. They’ll also explore the technologies and career pathways shaping the future of this critical field.
 
Current Scouts can begin earning the Wildland Fire Management Merit Badge immediately. The Wildland Fire Management Merit Badge DRG includes requirements, videos, interactive resources, information concerning prospective careers and so much more. Plus, it’s completely free.
