We don't mean to alarm anyone, here, but if you've never cleaned your AC drain line, aka condensate drain line, you're at risk for a whole lot more than an air-conditioning failure during oppressive heat waves like those continuing to roast the West, Midwest, Plains, Rockies, South and Southeast this week, putting some 100 million Americans under dangerous heat conditions. According to @USA TODAY extreme hot weather warnings remain in effect through today in Arizona, California, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi and Missouri, with heat indices possibly exceeding 115 degrees in the central/southern Plains  Mississippi Valley and Southeast.  Under such swelter, your AC system is working overtime, and producing an excess of moisture in the process. That moisture needs to go somewhere it can drain safely. If your condensate drain line is clogged from debris, buildup and neglect, it could overflow, leaking water into your home, causing flood damage and fostering mold, mildew and must in its wake.
