DPS started their own writeup on this one with “we can’t make this stuff up,” which tells you where the bar is at this point.

On July 24, Highway Patrol troopers were called out to SR-69 near Mayer after a report of a man swinging a samurai sword on the highway. Troopers made contact without incident and found him in possession of the sword along with a large sheath.

DPS says the man is a convicted felon. He was arrested for disorderly conduct involving weapons and on an outstanding warrant. Nobody was hurt and no name has been released.

Troopers closed their post with a line worth repeating. Safety isn’t a movie stunt. If you see something dangerous out there, call 911 and let the people trained for it handle it.

SR-69 out through Mayer and Dewey, never a dull drive.
