Buying a home in Arizona isn’t just expensive anymore. For a lot of people, it’s starting to feel impossible.

The typical home value across the state is now over $430,000, nearly double what it was about a decade ago.

Even for buyers who can afford the price, today’s mortgage rates have pushed monthly payments hundreds, and in many cases thousands, of dollars higher than they would’ve been just a few years ago.

Arizona continues to attract new residents every year, but many locals say they’re being priced out of the neighborhoods they grew up in. Some are putting off buying altogether, while others are looking farther outside the Valley in hopes of finding something affordable.

Do you think the American dream of owning a home is slipping away in Arizona, or is it still possible?
