Drake Lindsey is quickly becoming one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the Big Ten. @totalistrading 

After redshirting in 2024, Lindsey took over as Minnesota’s starting quarterback as a freshman in 2025 and immediately made an impact.

The Arkansas native started all 13 games, leading the Golden Gophers to eight wins—the most ever by a freshman starting quarterback in program history. 

Lindsey completed 249 of 386 passes for 2,382 yards, 18 touchdowns and only six interceptions while adding four rushing touchdowns. His 63.2% completion rate ranked among the best single-season marks in school history, and his 3-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio tied for third all-time at Minnesota. 

His biggest performances came against Rutgers, where he threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns, and at Northwestern, where he tossed four touchdown passes in a road victory. He also scored the game-winning rushing touchdown in overtime against Michigan State. 

At 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, Lindsey has the size, arm talent and poise that have many believing he could develop into one of the Big Ten’s top quarterbacks. Entering 2026, he returns alongside star running back Darius Taylor as Minnesota looks to build on last season’s 8–5 record. 

For a program known for physical football and strong defenses, Drake Lindsey has given Minnesota something it hasn’t had in years—a young quarterback with the potential to become the face of the program.
