Many seemingly innocent household items come with a hidden danger. Button batteries, when ingested, can cause significant injury or even death to children. Director of Endoscopy, Dr. Rob Kramer, shares what you need to know to stay safe:

1.  Always have honey in your home. Giving 1–2 tbsps of honey every 10 minutes until you seek medical attention could be the difference between significant injury or even death in your young child.

2.  Time is of the essence. Button battery ingestion can cause injury within minutes. Get to the hospital ASAP after a suspected ingestion.

3.  Know where they are. Whether they’re in packaging or in a device, know where all of the button batteries in your home are and make sure they aren’t accessible to you children.

These batteries may be small, but they cause a big safety concern. #HomeSafety #ButtonBatteries #ParentingTips
