A sobering fact: More than half of the world's migratory bird species are in decline.

A major new global scientific review has just found that 51% of migratory bird species are experiencing population declines.

Habitat destruction, climate change, pollution, collisions with infrastructure, and other human-caused threats are causing many species to fly towards extinction.

Scientists are warning: Without stronger conservation efforts; more losses are inevitable.

Migratory birds connect continents, pollinate plants, disperse seeds, and help keep ecosystems healthy. But they depend on safe habitat across thousands of miles of migration routes—meaning they need strong protections wherever they travel.

That's why laws like the Migratory Bird Treaty Act are so important.

Yet in recent years, the Trump administration has repeatedly weakened protections for migratory birds by narrowing enforcement against preventable bird deaths and rolling back safeguards for the habitats these species depend on.

The science is clear: protecting migratory birds requires protecting the places they breed, rest, and overwinter—and holding industries accountable when their activities kill birds unnecessarily.
