Baby Boomers are downsizing, and entire households of furniture, lighting, art and decorative objects are entering the secondhand market.

I found this lamp sitting in a garage at an estate sale yesterday for $20 (plus 35% off as it was the final day of the sale). Similar examples are listed online for as much as $1,200.

This is why I believe we’re entering one of the best periods for secondhand shopping in our lifetime. The valuable pieces aren’t always beautifully displayed or properly researched. Sometimes they’re sitting in a garage with no one paying attention.
