Ottawa Police say there could be more victims, but no photo was released‼️😳🚔

Police in Ottawa have charged 36-year-old Mohamed Laarous, an Uber and Lyft rideshare driver, with one count of s*xual assault following an investigation by the Ottawa Police Service’s S*xual Assault and Child Abuse Unit. 

The allegation has not been proven in court. Police say they believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

One thing that has caught people’s attention is that, despite saying there could be more victims, Ottawa Police did not publicly release a photo of the accused.

By comparison, in a recent Burlington/Halton investigation involving an Uber driver facing similar allegations, police did release the suspect’s photo after saying they believed there could be additional victims, encouraging others to come forward.)

Many people are now questioning why Ottawa Police handled this case differently and whether releasing a photo could have helped identify additional potential victims sooner. 

Police have not publicly explained why they chose not to release an image in this investigation.
