Kevin Durant argued the current Philadelphia 76ers roster is ‘more dominant on paper’ than the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors.

GSW before Durant joined:

🔸73-9 (Most win in NBA History)
🔸Lost in NBA Finals
🔸Unanimous MVP (Steph Curry)
🔸Coach of the Year (Steve Kerr)
🔸3 All-Star & All-NBA (Curry, Thompson, Green)

Philly before LeBron joined:

🔹45-37 Record
🔹Lost 2nd Round Playoffs
🔹1x All-Star & All-NBA (Maxey)
🔹1x All-Rookie First Team (Edgecombe)

The biggest difference that keeps getting overlooked is what each team already was before the superstar arrived.

The Warriors had just gone 73-9, made the Finals, had the unanimous MVP in Steph Curry, Coach of the Year Steve Kerr, and three All-NBA/All-Star players before KD ever signed. They were already one of the greatest teams in NBA history.

The Sixers won 45 games, lost in the second round, and then added LeBron. They’re undeniably loaded with talent—LeBron, Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Maxey, and Edgecombe—but they still have to prove it on the court.

Talent on paper is one thing. Proven dominance is another. That’s why this debate has blown up. If this Sixers team wins a championship, they’ll earn their place in history. Until then, the 2017 Warriors are still the standard every superteam gets compared to.
