The Marvel community is remembering Mary Rivera, who has passed away at the age of 82.⁠

Rivera was best known for playing Ned Leeds’ beloved grandmother, Lola, in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Her heartfelt performance and memorable Tagalog scene with Jacob Batalon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Andrew Garfield quickly became a fan favorite while celebrating Filipino representation in the MCU.⁠

In a statement to TMZ, Rivera’s family shared that she passed away peacefully on April 15 in Honolulu after suffering a stroke. They said doctors determined her condition was unlikely to improve, and the family made the difficult decision to remove her from life support. Rivera was later cremated.⁠

Before making her unforgettable big screen debut, Rivera was a retired church missionary, teacher, and radio broadcaster. She is survived by her husband, Alejandro, four children, 11 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.⁠
