A discarded SpaceX rocket is expected to crash into the Moon this week after drifting through space for more than a year.

Travelling at around 5,400mph, the impact is expected to blast a new crater into the lunar surface and send a plume of dust into space for scientists to study.

Experts say the accidental collision also highlights the growing challenge of managing space debris.
