After receiving widespread backlash, FIFA President Gianni Infantino scrapped proposed plans to allow private investors to buy a stake in future profits from World Cups and all FIFA events on Saturday. ⁣

Following the proposal, UEFA, Europe's football governing body, responded by voting to boycott World Cups if the plans went ahead, and other governing bodies also voiced their opposition. ⁣
