President Donald Trump is making an announcement on American nuclear innovation from the White House on Friday afternoon.

Ahead of the event, the White House did not share any details concerning President Trump's specific announcement.

On Wednesday, the Department of Energy announced the first projects selected under the Genesis Mission Request for Applications (RFA) as part of President Trump’s Genesis Mission to accelerate AI-driven scientific discovery.

The nearly 300 projects selected will address energy, scientific, and engineering challenges, including nuclear energy, critical mineral extraction, intelligent chip design, and commercial fusion energy.

The largest project selected is a three-year, $60 million investment in nuclear energy that will harness AI to help deliver nuclear facilities faster and safer while cutting operating costs to provide Americans with affordable, reliable, and secure energy, the DOE announced.
