📚 This week, our Summer Shabbat Shout Out goes to Lower Division teachers Morah Ravit and Morah Elaina, who recently completed the highly selective, year-long Legacy Heritage Teacher Institute for Innovation—a national professional development program focused on advancing Jewish education through creative thinking and meaningful learning experiences.

🌍 Throughout the year, they collaborated with educators from Jewish day schools across North America, worked alongside mentors in Israel and the U.S., and ultimately presented an innovative project designed to strengthen Hebrew language, deepen Jewish identity, and create more authentic opportunities for students to engage with both.

☕ Their project, Cafe Hafooch, reimagines Hebrew learning through immersive, student-centered experiences. "We want them to feel more comfortable speaking Hebrew," Morah Elaina shared. From authentic Hebrew conversations and collaborative learning to exploring the stories of Jewish trailblazers in science, technology, philosophy, and the arts, the program helps students see that language, culture, history, and identity aren't separate subjects—they're all connected.

🚀 Even more exciting? Last year was just the beginning. 

This year, our trailblazing teachers are expanding the program across additional grade levels, collaborating with more faculty, and creating monthly experiences that will continue to strengthen Hebrew language skills while helping students build confidence, curiosity, and pride in their Jewish identity. "We want them to become the next generation of trailblazers," shared Morah Ravit. 

💙 We're incredibly proud of their dedication to lifelong learning and can't wait to see the impact this work will have on our students in the year ahead.
