I went and watched the Odyssey, it was really cool. I did however cry twice and I wept once. I wept because Odysseus was talking about how he had his moment of realization about the trojan horse, how he had deceived Troy with the gift, something so seemingly loving and thoughtful, a guise, a trick. As he narrated and realized this, it showed all of Odysseus’ soldiers running through the streets, murdering, pillaging. "10 years of pent-up rage" he said. He saw women and children killed from an idea formulated in HIS mind. The rage and pure animalistic joy of his soldiers pillaging brought him great shame and regret.

I wept during this scene as I found it to be analogous to all of us. For humanity as a whole, it demonstrated how it feels like nothing has changed. We still kill each other, rape each other, commit heinous acts, and try to control what can't be controlled. Everyone wants their ideals to be THE ideals. But this just simply will never happen. Fighting over things like beliefs, religion-when in my opinion-they only divide us. Stop trying to control everything, focus on yourself, reflect inward, and maybe our grandchildren see a more united world.
