Your retention problem often starts before day one.

Most business owners think retention is an onboarding issue.

In reality, it often begins in the recruiting process. If a new sales rep doesn't clearly understand what it takes to reach the income you promised, confusion shows up fast. That confusion turns into frustration, and frustration turns into turnover.

The best sales organizations remove that uncertainty before a rep is ever hired.

You should be able to show exactly what success looks like in week one, week two, month one, and beyond. When expectations are clear, recruiting becomes more credible, onboarding becomes more effective, and management becomes much easier because everyone is working from the same roadmap.

One strategy we've seen work well is pairing that roadmap with activity-based bonuses during the first few months. It helps bridge the gap while reps build the habits and production needed to reach their long-term income goals instead of quitting before they get there.

How much of your retention challenge is actually a clarity problem?
