🏫🚧 NEW SAMFORD HOUSING PLAN: On Tue. August 4, the Homewood Planning Commission voted 7-0 to recommend plans for two new student housing buildings on the south side of Lakeshore Dr. More details below ⬇️

Development plans include:
🏢 Two 6-story student housing buildings
🛏️ Housing for up to 494 students
🛍️ About 9.2K sq feet of retail space
📍 Located near Samford's current track + soccer field
✅ Next step is a vote of the Homewood City Council in Fall 2026

Residents were vocal about concerns like:
💧 Increase stormwater issues
🚦 Possible traffic problems crossing Lakeshore + during rush hour 
🌳 Concerns about Shades Creek + the Greenway
🌱 Residents also suggested adding more trees, permeable parking surfaces + eco-friendly building features
