Did you know Rebecca Black, the Mexican-American singer behind “Friday,” is still making waves 15 years later? Earlier this week, the RIAA certified the nostalgic hit as platinum after it sold 1 million units. 

Black dropped “Friday” on YouTube in 2011 and went viral overnight at just 13 years old. Despite the barrage of hate she faced after its release, the now 29-year-old singer never let the criticism stop her from reaching her dreams.

Black’s first EP “RE/BL” came in 2017, and her debut album, “Let Her Burn,” arrived in 2023, followed by her second album, “SALVATION,” in 2025. Her third studio album “Age of the Exhibitionist” is dropping in September.
