## Caption

On this day in 2010, a massive, record-setting hailstone fell in Vivian, South Dakota, measuring 8 inches across and weighing nearly 2 pounds. It set U.S. records for the largest hailstone by both diameter and weight.

For comparison, the weight is equivalent to around 50 ice https://t.co/zXECNycwlQ
