The State Department showed up to a major international AIDS conference with a map of Africa that got every single country wrong.

Nigeria moved inland. Côte d'Ivoire relocated to East Africa. A label floating with no country attached to it at all. The AI generated graphic was mocked online within hours, but the bigger story is what it represents.

This happened while the administration continues to slash PEPFAR, the program credited with saving 26 million lives across Africa, including cutting off support entirely for South Africa.

An embarrassing map is one thing. The funding cuts behind it are costing real lives.
