The prominent Lowcountry attorney and former Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate is suing the City of Charleston and several officers after an incident between him and police officers in May 2025.

The lawsuit alleges Charleston Police Department officers unlawfully arrested McLeod, booked him under a fake name, and released false information about him to the public following his arrest in downtown Charleston.
