Stray Kids have officially shared where they stand on the controversy surrounding this year’s Grammys. 👀

At a press conference for the group’s new mini album, “THIS & THAT”, member Seungmin was asked whether Stray Kids plans to submit their music for consideration in the Grammys’ new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. Rather than directly addressing the category itself, Seungmin emphasized that the group’s focus remains on their music.

“Rather than looking outward, we are simply trying to include the colors and stories we want to tell,” he said, adding that the group is not influenced by changes to the Grammys’ categories. “We see that music is having a positive impact on so many people, so we just hope our music reaches as many listeners as possible.” 👏

Hyunjin echoed those sentiments, explaining that awards have never been the group’s motivation. “We have never made music with any record or goal in mind. This time as well, we just want to show as many different things as we can. That is our biggest goal and our dream.”

The comments come after BTS announced that they will not submit their latest album to the Grammys in response to the creation of the separate category. Following the announcement, fans voiced their support for the group’s decision.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. also responded, saying, “We were saddened to hear the news, but we understand and respect their decision,” while emphasizing that the new category was never intended to separate or discriminate against artists.
