Used EVs and hybrids are getting another look, and higher gas prices are helping move that conversation along.

CarMax says searches for used EVs and hybrids jumped 12.8% in early March. At the same time, Cox Automotive says used EV sales climbed 28.8% year over year in February, while inventory tightened and days’ supply dropped. 

Pricing is shifting too. Used EVs averaged $34,821 in February, just $1,334 more than ICE vehicles, and in many brands they were actually cheaper.

That does not erase the usual questions around range, charging, battery life, and ownership costs.

It does mean affordability is starting to answer some of them.
