What happens when EV owners get charged more than gas drivers to fund the same roads?

That is where this conversation is headed.

New federal and state EV fee proposals are landing in the $200 to $250 range, which is two to three times what the average gas vehicle driver pays in federal fuel tax. 

That may sound like a fairness play, but the math gets shaky fast.

Flat fees ignore how much people actually drive. And at a time when the U.S. is already making EV adoption harder, this adds another speed bump.

The real issue is not road funding.

It is whether policy is helping the transition or quietly taxing it.
