Ford just drew a line in the sand.

CEO Jim Farley says the manual Mustang isn’t going anywhere, bluntly saying it will stay “out of our cold, dead hands.”

It’s a bold stance while others head the opposite direction. 

BMW says developing a new manual gearbox is too expensive, and several brands have already phased them out entirely.

The reality is simple: manuals rarely sell in big numbers.

But they still carry something valuable.
