There has to be a middle ground.

That’s the take from our latest podcast after news broke that Volkswagen dealers filed a class action lawsuit over Scout's direct to consumer sales model.

Dealers say Scout is owned by VW Group, which means bypassing the franchise system crosses a line. Scout’s view is different. They want tight control over the brand and the buying experience as they launch.

We're asking if there's a third option: direct to start, with dealers involved later.
