Remember when every EV startup was racing to build massive U.S. factories?

VinFast is still building… just not the way it originally planned.

The company says it will restart construction on its North Carolina plant, but with about 80% fewer jobs than first promised and a much smaller overall scope.

At the same time, losses are growing, and EV demand in North America is expected to dip.

That combination is forcing a reset.

For dealers, this is becoming a familiar pattern. Big EV ambitions meet real market conditions.

The takeaway isn’t that EVs are going away.

It’s that the timeline, and the scale, are getting a lot more realistic.
