Waymo's cars can navigate Austin. Parking legally has apparently been the harder problem. The company’s autonomous fleet has received 83 parking citations totaling more than $9,000, including tickets for expired meters, tow-away zones and a disabled parking space. It sounds funny, but it points to a much larger operational challenge. Human rideshare drivers handle parking, repositioning and downtime on their own.
