JJ McCarthy started 25 games at Michigan across the 2022 and 2023 seasons, completing 64.4% of his passes for 5,019 yards, 47 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions, and led the Wolverines to a national championship in January 2024 — the program’s first title since 1997.

McCarthy was selected tenth overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft and missed his entire rookie season after tearing his meniscus during the preseason in August 2024. He returned for the 2025 season and started all 17 regular season and playoff games for Minnesota, completing 63.8% of his passes for 3,912 yards with 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions as the Vikings reached the NFC Championship Game. 

His college passer rating of 173.9 in 2023 ranked first in the Big Ten and his efficiency metrics throughout the national championship run placed him among the top quarterbacks statistically in that postseason.
