From 24–26 July, four Northwood senior representatives - Arav Sewraj, Darsheel Morar, Shivkar Sewraj and Shivan Pillay - competed in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Schools Debating Tournament, hosted at Northwood and attended by more than 400 pupils from six debating leagues.
Following extensive training, late-night preparation sessions with their respective KZN teams, and six intense preliminary rounds, our boys achieved exceptional results.👏

Team achievements:
Shivan Pillay and Arav Sewraj formed part of the top-ranked team heading into the break rounds.
Darsheel Morar’s team progressed to the Senior Plate Final, narrowly losing on a 4–3 split decision. Darsheel was, however, named Best Speaker of the Final.

Individual achievements:
Arav Sewraj was ranked the number-one senior debater in KwaZulu-Natal. He also serves as Chairperson of the Durban Coastal Debating League Student Committee.

All four Northwood representatives were selected for the KZN trial squad. Following further provincial-level training, they will compete for places in the final KZN team that will attend the national tournament later this year.
