#TSRPrayersUp: #Roommates, a Mississippi community is demanding answers after a 29-year-old woman was found dead, hanging from a tree behind what authorities say was a vacant home in Jackson. According to wapt, the victim has been identified as #TasiaFortune. Her body was discovered Monday in the backyard of a property on the 500 block of Road of Remembrance.

Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes says he’s asking federal officials to step in. Stokes revealed that he sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney’s Office requesting assistance to help ensure whoever is responsible is identified and prosecuted. “We sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney’s Office asking for help to make sure we catch and convict the person or persons involved with hanging a young lady in Jackson,” Stokes said. _______________________
Stokes also emphasized that regardless of whether investigators determine there was a racial motive, Mississippi’s history of lynchings makes the circumstances especially disturbing and something city leaders should publicly condemn.
