For approximately 11 years, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Luis Pacheco has worn his #GSAR on patrol with Carson Station, just south of Compton.

Luis first learned about Marathon while serving as an artillery cannoneer in the United States Marine Corps. When he learned about the company’s history, he knew he “had to own a precise timepiece.” Years later, the GSAR on his wrist carries the marks of another chapter of service—what Luis calls the “battle scars” that have become part of the watch’s history.

And Luis has a history worth telling, too. Pictured here at the 2018 ALADS Awards Banquet, he was awarded the Medal for Bravery after disarming a knife-wielding suspect at a local market.

“I wish I had some spectacular story about my watch… but all I can tell you is that it has endured a ton of battle scars, which are absolutely a part of my watch’s history. I love my watch. I love what you do and I hope you continue to produce the greatest tool watch that I have ever owned.”

We’d say 11 years on the wrist of a Marine and Sheriff’s Deputy is a pretty spectacular story.
