Bartlomiej Kubkowski just became the first person to swim across the Baltic Sea from Sweden to Poland (nearly 100 miles). This was Kubkowski’s fifth attempt at completing the swim. Last year, in his fourth try, he was pulled unconscious from the water roughly seven miles from the finishing point.

The swim served as a fundraiser for “Cancer Fighters,” an organization that helps fund research and treatments for childhood cancer, and Kubkowski helped raise nearly $190,000 in his swim for the organization.
