Happy 41st birthday to us! On August 3, 1985, the Sacramento History Museum, then known as the Sacramento History Center, opened in Old Sacramento. For today, Jared letterpress printed a large modern photo engraving of our building. Our museum is housed in a reconstruction of Sacramento‘s City Hall and Waterworks building that was originally constructed at the same site in 1854. The text below states, “Happy 41st Birthday to us!” and it was typeset in 60 point Caslon font. This was printed with blue rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.
