An 18-year-old was critically injured after falling about 20 stories inside the decommissioned Checkerboard Grain Elevator in Minneapolis.

Police said the teen was trespassing with a group when he fell onto an elevated platform. Firefighters used a ladder truck to reach him before he was taken to Hennepin Healthcare with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities called his survival a miracle and are warning young people about the dangers of entering abandoned properties. Neighbors say they had repeatedly reported concerns about trespassing at the site.
