Records now tie the man behind Saturday’s deadly In-N-Out attack in Idaho to an address on the west edge of the Valley.

It happened Saturday around 2:30pm outside a brand new In-N-Out in Twin Falls, Idaho, a location that had only been open about a week. Three people lost their lives and seven others were hurt. Twin Falls police identified the man as 24-year-old Chad Williams and say he passed at the scene. Investigators say they are confident he acted alone.

Public records show Williams previously lived in Waddell, roughly 30 miles west of Phoenix near Surprise. Police say his family lives in the area and has been fully cooperating with investigators. He attended the College of Southern Idaho between 2022 and 2023 and left without a degree. Court record searches in both Arizona and Idaho turned up no prior criminal history.

Police say an off duty Idaho state trooper and an armed customer returned fire and forced him away from the restaurant. The chief credited both of them with preventing more deaths. Several bystanders were hurt while trying to help people get out.

Families have identified two of the three people who lost their lives as 23-year-old Ashley Garibay, an In-N-Out manager from Stockton who was in Twin Falls training new staff, and 59-year-old Christopher Claunch, who worked at a recovery center in Idaho and had lived there about 30 years. The third has not been publicly identified.

The FBI is assisting Twin Falls police and no motive has been determined.
