I think this isn’t entirely correct, but there’s definitely some truth to it. Typically, listeners care far less about crediting the producers of a song. Even if the beat carries, they’ll always think of the artist first. 

Popstar Benny, who’s worked heavily w/ Rod Wave and produced Lil Yachty’s “Minnesota,” pointed out that it’s really a mutual need between the artist & producer.
