Meet 1090F. She's the majestic matriarch of one of Yellowstone's best-known wolf families: Mollie's pack. At 12 years old, she's also the area's oldest living wolf. 

But this wolf and her pack are in imminent danger.

After spending nearly her entire life inside Yellowstone National Park, 1090F and her pack recently established a den outside the park's protective boundary. 

By unknowingly stepping beyond an invisible, human-made boundary, these wolves drifted from federal to state jurisdiction and could be legally killed when the Wyoming's hunting season opens this fall. 

Scientists have studied 1090F and her family for more than a decade, making these animals one of the most documented wolf packs in the world.
