Remembering on the 80th anniversary of D-Day. 

My short World War 2 film, “A Mighty Endeavor” - which is my way of saying thank you - has a beautiful story and it is a miracle it even exists; I had no idea when honoring this event, I would end up dedicating it in the end credits to my uncle Stephen who passed on his last fighter training sortie in the 1970s and has a marker at Arlington. It wasn’t even originally planned as a film and much less a festival piece.

The hair stood up on my neck last year (2023) as I discovered the very day I landed in Los Angeles for a new job ten years earlier - while living 3000 miles away before that - albeit through circumstances completely out of my control, more than 8 years before this film won awards around the world, and around 6 years before it was made, it was the exact anniversary of his death. None of this was known or foreseen while the events happened. 

My words and thoughts fall short of the magnitude of true sacrifice; but I am grateful to have a small opportunity to meditate and remember. Never, ever, ever underestimate or forget.
